Internships
Back-end Developer Intern - X-Ingredient
During my second internship at X-Ingredient in ’s-Hertogenbosch, I had the opportunity to apply and further develop my software development skills. This internship provided me with valuable hands-on experience, allowing me to work on two significant projects where I primarily focused on the back-end development.
One of the notable projects I worked on involved creating a detection system using a Raspberry Pi and various sensors.
In addition to the detection system, I also contributed to the development of a quick-write system for firmware updates to a smartTAG created by Spectrum59. This involved designing an efficient process for rapidly writing firmware to the smartTAG devices. Through careful planning and implementation, I ensured a seamless and reliable firmware update mechanism, enabling efficient maintenance and improvement of the smartTAG system.
These projects allowed me to deepen my understanding of back-end development, enhance my problem-solving skills, and gain practical experience in integrating software with hardware components. It was a rewarding experience to see the tangible impact of my contributions in creating innovative solutions for real-world challenges.
Software Developer Intern - Heras
At Heras, an international security company, I worked as a software developer intern for six months during the first half of my second year. Along with two other interns, we built a full-stack application to be used by prisons in the Netherlands and the UK.
My role was focused on back-end development, including getting the application hosted on Linux and setting up the database using MySQL. This internship provided me with valuable experience working in a professional software development environment and taught me how to build a full-stack application on a large scale.
Education
Software Developer - Koning Willem I College
I have successfully completed my degree in Software Development at Koning Willem I College. Throughout my studies, I acquired a diverse set of skills, including proficiency in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, .NET/C#, and SQL. This program has helped me become an all-round software developer, equipped to handle various tasks and challenges in the field.
Additionally, I gained practical experience through internships, where I had the opportunity to work in professional settings. These internships allowed me to apply my knowledge and develop my skills further. I also learned how to use software and systems such as VMware and DevOps.
Student Council - Koning Willem I College
As a member of the Student Council, I participated in weekly discussions about new policies, organizing activities, and improving student life within the school. I became the head of the inclusivity and sustainability commission after a merge with another school.
In this role, I led efforts to ensure all students felt welcome and comfortable within the school and to make the school a green and sustainable environment. This role taught me how to take the right actions to get things done within a large organization.
VMBO-T - Kempenhorst College
This was my middle/high school education, during which I discovered my interest in building software. I also opted for the optional Anglia Examinations to improve my English proficiency.
Certifications
Anglia Examinations
Anglia Examinations is a program offered by my middle/high school to learn English at a higher level than the normal school program. After completing the exams, I earned a certificate stating that I am proficient in B2-level English.
Hackathon Masters
Hackathon Masters is an organization that hosts hackathons throughout the Netherlands. During my second year at Koning Willem I College, I participated in one of the hackathons organized at our school. My team and I developed an app using Xamarin for Stichting Praktijkleren, a charity that supplies educational materials for kids that need it.
This experience taught me how to work in a high-stress environment, as we only had four days to develop the app. While we didn’t get first place, we were proud to receive second place, especially since this was my first ever hackathon experience.
